Thanks to Rob/Vital Info for the head's up on Los Comales. I tried their steak tacos and they were exactly what I wanted: corn tortilla, chopped up steak (even had some nice charred bits), cilantro and onion... they could have used a bit of fresh lime, but you get 2 salsas, red & green, on the side which were both quite tasty. You also get a little baggy of pickled carrots and jalapenos. The tacos are small, but 3 of them made a nice dinner for me, and set me back a whole $4. :-) The menu is strictly tacos, burritos, and tortas.
There's also an old bar just east of Los Comales on Lake that has the faux Swiss chalet look, and a huge stuffed grizzly bear enclosed in a plexiglass tube on the roof. The something-Inn... looks intriguing.
I like Amararind's Thai a lot! We actually had to wait for a table the other weekend. When it was Rum Thai, we were occasionally the only people there. Haven't tried Flavor, the pan-asian place right next door. It actually looks a bit too hip for my neighborhood.
