A new Mexican place seems to be coming to the ghastly building that has driven off so many restaurants. I was leery of posting, but I've seen enough activity in there to give them at least a 50/50 chance of actually opening.
The location is slightly towards downtown from the Shell station on Perkins. It was home to Roscoe's Chicken'n'Waffles for a year or so, after they departed their 2nd+Broadway location. They didn't do terribly well, and went under. Since then there have been at least four different signs in the window, promising a grill, a wine bar, a Chinese restaurant, and something I forget. All started work but didn't get too far before abandoning the effort.
The singing taco bunch seems to have made the most progress, and it looked like there were some wall hangings when I went by today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed; it would be nice to have *one* tolerable Mexican spot in the hood.
