Thanks, DC ‘Hound, for your help. We had a wonderful long weekend in your city.
We had lunch at Fast Gourmet—chivito and their potato salad. We loved this food. DH licked the potato salad bowl clean! We were so full from lunch that dinner was just a glass of wine and some really good cheese from Whole Paycheck.
The next day DH attended his conference so I had a heavenly lunch at the bar at Bibiana—a wonderful bowl of risotto with tellagio, Asian pear, and lots of black pepper, a glass of wine, and some passion fruit/fig sorbetti. That risotto was adult comfort food—somewhat like eating a bowl of the best adult mac and cheese ever.
Dinner was just some hummus and baba ganoush and a drink at Zaytinya because I was still pretty full from lunch.
Saturday we at Oohhs and Aahhs---fabulous food and warm, friendly service. We had the broiled crab cakes (thanks, Steve :0), mac and cheese, greens, and sweet potatoes. Fabulous. DH ordered peach cobbler, which he loved, but I didn’t care for it. I prefer peach cobbler made with pie crust and fresh peaches. (A young foursome sitting close to us in the upstairs dining room, who ordered almost every dish on the menu, recommended Pig so I will be searching for reviews of Pig on this board.)
Dinner for me was a leg/thigh at Nando’s and a side of the mushy peas. It was fun to check this place out, but I would not go back.
For lunch on Sunday, we went to a place that doesn’t get much love on this board—Lauriol Plaza. Our food was really good: roasted pork marinated in criollo sauce and roasted with bitter orange, and the shrimp/scallops with cilantro, tomatoes, onions, peppers, and Peruvian sauce. It was delicious. Is there another resto in DC that serves this kind of food and does it better? We’d be interested.
You guys were terrific in helping us out with suggestions re where to eat and even advice re the Metro. We avoided the single tracking thanks to you.
We are already planning another trip this spring. We LOVE your city. Thanks again for all the help.
