this just in..... the "closed for vacation" sign has disappeared, to be replaced by one stating "french bistro coming soon." the new name starts with a v. i spoke to the new owner, who told me that he has worked at bouley and other manhattan restaurants, and that this is his first place. he said he has "a lot of ideas" and his plan is to offer "good food at reasonable prices." he is completely renovating the space (ripping out those booths) and plans to reopen september 1. anybody have any other intelligence? dare we hope for a decent restaurant on henry st.????
