London - Pied a Terre

The new refurbished premises are smart and comfortable.
Our margerita cocktails were divine and accompanied with very tasty canapes - there was deep fried foie gras, a salmon mousse, a brandade of cod in a crisp and a cherry & onion tartlet.

My starter was a seared and saute foie gras in a sauternes consomme .. it was delicious and just melted in my mouth. My partner had a rabbit & artichoke combination which was almost as good. This was accompanied by Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc.

Main course of 5 spiced pork belly with trotter stuffed with wild mushrooms was excellent, and the chicken was superb. The service from the sommelier was rather 'superficial' and so the resulting 1995 St Emilion was lacking in body and rather poor.

We shared a cheese selection which was very good even though the choices from the trolley were far less than last time.

No room for dessert !

An excellent choice for that special meal with all staff (except the sommelier) being professional, friendly & sincere.
