I should probably have added this to another thread, but this was such a stunning meal it deserves its own thread. We went to Medlar for a celebration on Sunday. Medlar is a wonderful example of how to do high-end adventurous food in a relaxed atmosphere (with impeccable service and nice tablecloths and napkins!). And it is amazing value - the Sunday night fixed price menu had 8 choices in each course.
I had asparagus with ham and a sort of mousse, perfect steak, and lemon curd ice cream with blueberries. This description does not do the food justice - each dish clearly involves several processes and the juxtaposition of flavours.
And... bonus...no music! No hard surfaces! So easy to talk. Although mostly the conversation went "mmm.. this is really good....you have to try this....etc"
