[London] Lahori Masala, Shoreditch

After a moderately positive review in Cheese & Biscuits, I took a quick walk over to Lahori Masala after work last night. On Commercial St, it's the newest Pakistani grill house in the area.

Stepping in, it was totally empty when I arrived. Being the only diner in a restaurant with 600 covers is a bit, well, weird. Service was very friendly (not like they had much else to do!), and they seemed really keen to make sure I enjoyed my meal.

Tandoori chicken wings were nicely spiced and very moist, though I think they would have benefited if a bit more charcoal flavour came through. Unfortunately I was eating alone, so couldn't sample more grills.

Karahi gosht for mains. The lamb was very tender and nicely cooked, but the dish was underspiced and so quite dull, lacking the explosion of flavour at Tayyabs and Lahore Kebab.

Paratha was nice. I guess I'm spoiled, recently trying the ones at Thattukada which were awesome. :-)

It's early days yet so might be worth revisiting in six months or so, though it won't replace Tayyabs/Needoo/Lahore for me yet!
