Last night on the Sopranos, Tony's newest psycho-squeeze Gloria invites him to her place for London broil (he later ends up wearing it but that's beside the point).
My boyfriend, who is from London, had never heard of this and asked, "why is it called London broil?" and I was hard-pressed to provide an explanation. I've gone all over the 'net and all I can determine so far is that it doesn't refer to specific cut, rather, to a recipe or a preparation. But I'm wondering wherefore "London"?
