Lola's Lakehouse

Dermot Cowley of O'Donovan's Pub and Jake O'Connors in Excelsior has done it again.
This guy sure knows hands down how to create good atmosphere and for the most part I have never had bad food experiences in his joints.
He recently opened Lola's Lakehouse in Waconia, MN and it sits right on Lake Waconia. This place used to be Nancy's Landing and my jaw dropped at how well he remodeled the place.
On a visit about a week ago we stopped by on a Saturday night. Sure, being a new place we had to wait a bit to get out table but they provide ample seating in the bar while you wait. Even though it was busy we had someone come to get our drink orders right away.

I usually prefer to eat in the bar anyway as the energy always seems better but the friends I was with wanted to sit on the patio as you are right on the lake. It was worth it since the sunset was killer.
The service was ok. I say ok and not 100% as I think they might be going through a few pains of simply being a new place with new staff. I server did apologize for the wait on some of our items but like I said this place is new and being that it's probably difficult ti find staff that when you are 40 minutes from the cities I want to give them plenty of legroom here for awhile.
The food was spot on. I started with juicy, briny and plump (much bigger than I had at Ocenaire a few weeks prior) oysters, followed by a lobster roll. It was nicely toasted but I cheated and simply ate all the lobster out of it with a fork. My friend had an stone-oven fired jambalaya pizza that was crazy good and the other guy tried the crackling pork shank I think it was...tasty.
If you have time for a small drive and you want a great view and maybe a boat ride afterwards, head out to Lola's Lakehouse.
Website is till under construction but you can view the menu and get directions.
