Some friends just moved to NYC, and I'd like to assemble a gift basket for them, but something with personality (and preferably local, to celebrate their new digs).
I need fresh bread, candles, salt, and something sweet. Finding all four in one place has proven challenging, and I'm wondering if I should just call up a local market in their area (one in Stuyvesant Town / East Village and one in Brooklyn near Clinton Hill), but don't know where to find quality stuff.
I've been looking online, and here's the best I've found. What am I missing? Any locals know of a grocery with good ingredients that would deliver, particularly in Stuyvesant Town? Most of my search results are in Brooklyn.
