Local source for Sodium Alginate (molecular gastronomy)?

Guido | May 30, 2011 05:59 PM

Does anyone know of a local (non-mail-order) source for food grade sodium alginate? It's the stuff they use to make the El Bulli olives. Easy to find on line but have to pay shipping. There was a great segment on "Made in Spain" where Jose Andres made yogurt balls by spooning slightly sweetened yogurt into alginate solution - I want to do it!!! Maybe Christina's?
