Local Palate finally features chowhounds

i'm surprised no one's beaten me to this posting. lisa futterman in this bimonthly issue of the free (and,IMHO opinion, excellent) culinary newsletter,Local Palate, has a full page article about chicago chowhounds. i was very impressed by her grasp of the culture. she attended the dinner at the parthenon last year, but its been so long, i gave up hoping for an article. she refers to our gathering as 'a large scale pork experience', which i think is succinctly put. there's a picture of the pig we ate, and a couple of chowhounds (i'll let them identify themselves, if they choose). she refers to some of the touchstones of chicago chow, lem's for BBQ, superdawg, oaxacan tamales. she quotes VI on the search for the best eating street in chicago,(his vote is on the 3100 block of north central). she talks about the 24 chowathon, tho, sadly was not told about the untimely death of the kimchee museum, which we only waved at as we drove by. check it out, i think you'll be pleased. joan
