Local oysters - Now or Later?

Dear Hounds, I need your thoughts! I've been wanting to take a ride up to Hog Island or one of the other oyster purveyors in the area but am wondering if we should wait until it gets colder. I've always been told that oysters aren't that good during the warmer months and that they are larger and have better texture and flavor in the Winter. Just have a real hankering for some nice local oysters either on the half-shell or on the bbq! Has anyone been up there lately and how were they? If not Hog Island, which place do you favor and why? Thanks....
