interesting place; on U Street at 16th, where the old Julios used to be. a roof deck, too.
worth a look -- emphasis on local, organic food.
I began with an heirloom tomato salad (pretty good, actually, but refrigerated, which is odd b/c tomatoes should not be fridged or they get mealy) followed by a v. good risotto with sweet corn and parsnips of all things. We had dessert but can't remember what it was...something with ice cream. Guess it was not mind- bending, but think it was good.
My date had tempura shrimp with mango salsa -- very good, and grilled chicken with tarragon, on mashed potatoes etc.
the restaurant is worth a visit -- dramatic pared down New ORleans bordello interior (shiny red walls, dark wood, white linen.) My date had a beer and I a glass of wine and the bill was less than $50 do it was not an outlandish place to eat. A little loud though. Service was attentive.
Still taking the Nashville Hound to Obelisk, though (see "trepidatious" thread.) He's confirmed travel plans twice; think it's a go. :)
