Went to a new tex mex establishment on court street last night called Lobo where harvest used to be.
Met the owners(shawn and david(who used to own harvest)who were very friendly and informed me that they had consulted with a good mexican food establishment in Austin, Tx called maudies(decent place not my favorite but good)
So here is my review. Overall the food was good and pretty authentic(of course as a native Texan I made a few suggestions), but the food was good esp. for their opening night. The queso was good, most authentic since I have been here. The chalupa was made well, the tacos were fine, the beef enchilada was good and the cheese enchilada was not my thing but good. My friends beef fajitas were good, but they put a lot of mushrooms with the meat, a no no in texas. Beef Fajitas= beef, onion, and pepper. But the flavor was good. My other friends tamales were really good. My only big complaint is the salsa lacked spice at least for me.
Now the great part. The most authentic margaritas I have had since I have moved. The house margarita was good. However opt for a margarita with one of their better quality tequilas(like Don Julio or Casadores)(great selection and improving) with cointreau(grand marnier is a cheap substitutue)
Nice margaritas, hopefully the food will continue to be good, it is affordable so enjoy.
