Where to Live and Eat Around RTP?

Pili | Aug 13, 2005 05:34 AM

Career demands are taking us from Northern California to the Raleigh-Durham area, a totally unfamiliar region. This being the Chowhound Board, I can freely confess that good food is a critical part of our lives, and it is with some trepidation that we leave the culinary bounty around San Francisco.

I very much want to enjoy living in a different part of the country, and a real estate agent can always help us find decent housing--but I'm afraid it won't mean much if we don't have access to really good food! Where are the best places to live, based on availablity of good markets and restaurants, particularly Asian seafood?

And which restaurants in the RTP vicinity serve the best examples of Southern cooking? (I admit I don't know much about it, but I'd love to learn!)
