With a Shanghainese in-law, the minute I stepped foot on Hong Kong soil, I was exposed to Shanghainese food both at home and eating out. Apart from Shanghainese themed home cooked food, this meal at 'Liu Yuan' is the second 'heavy' Shanghainese meal in two consecutive days. Talk about fast tracking a Shanghainese food overload! However, thank goodness, quality of food in my in-law's favorite non-club Shanghainese eatery is pretty darn good! Presentation might be a bit rough with an edge, however, flavor profile of most dishes was spot-on!
