Our trip to NYC is 7 months away and I'm already day-dreaming and making plans;) I'll be in a conference at the Sheraton New York Hotel & Towers and the Hilton New York from Feb 24-28, joined by my son on Feb 28, staying through March 4. We are both looking forward to it.
He has long been a chowpup, and we're hoping to find some food trucks and inexpensive places to tantalize and satisfy our taste buds. Here are a couple posts about our culinary adventures on another conference/vacation trip http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/492430 , http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/511492 . He's 9 and we live in the Tampa Bay area now, but our tastes are still pretty much the same, perhaps with slightly increased interest in German/central European food after 1.5 yrs there. Can you suggest eateries for us in the following places?
Lower East side, Ellis Island, Tenement museum
Harlem (unfortunately, neither of us is terribly into soul food)
Sony Wonder Technology Lab/59th Street tram
MoMA or Natural History Museum
Fresh Kills (we might do a tour of its conversion to a park)
Additionally, if you have any suggestions for me, close to the conference or easy to get to by subway from there, I'd love to hear them.
