L'Initiale Legende L'Echaude Aux Anciens Canadiens

Worldwide Diner | Jan 5, 201607:00 AM

Took a short trip to Quebec City. I spent 3 nights there and saw most of the city.

My first meal was at L'Initiale. This is a formal and expensive restaurant. I ordered the Xmas tasting menu at $145 (all prices in Canadian), which included (1) scallops lamelles, (2) oyster in broth, (3) poached lobsters, (4) seared foie gras, (5) quail, (6) roasted lamb, and desserts.

I had a few glasses of wine, and with tax and tip, the meal was $300 for myself. I think the cooking was excellent, and the service was formal but not snooty. I was watching True Blood on iPad during the meal (courtesy of their Wifi) and the servers were not appalled at the blood and nudity (my back was against a wall, so none of the their other clients had to watch vampires).
