Lime Rickey Recipe/simple syrup?

SCP77 | Jun 8, 200808:09 PM     7

I know the topic of Lime Rickeys and Raspberry Lime Rickeys was discussed in a HUGE long thread just 3-4 weeks back, and I have reviewed that thread. But now that the hot weather is upon us, I want to make them at home! Most of the recipes I find on-line have vodka or other spirits (not that I oppose alcohol, but that's not what I'm looking for) and other recipes are vague. Actually I only found recipes w/out liquor for Raspberry Lime Rickeys and some were WAY off, calling for sherbet -- SACRELIGE!!!

I know the lime and setlzer part. But the syrup? For the regular ones, do I really need to MAKE my own simple syrup (a/c is inadequate in my home, I don't want to boil or simmer ANYTHING!) .. Can it be purchased in small quantity any where? Can I use corn syrup or is it too thick? How much?

Also ... when it comes to Raspberry Lime Rickeys ... where can I buy a reasonable portion of raspberry syrup. As discussed in that other thread, Zarex is no more and Grandmother's in Natick is now apartments or condos --- although I wouldn't want to buy a gallon anyway ....

Thanks in advance for your advice!!!
