Two months ago I dropped by SOMA StreatFood Park to check out Lil Burma. The order taker in front asked me if I were from Burma, which comes up a lot. I got my usual first try go-to dish, Coconut Chicken Noodle Soup (Ohn No Khauk Swe).
A lovely version - intensely chicken-y and not overwhelmed by coconut milk's sweetness, tender but not stringy chunks of chicken thigh meat, and the fish sauce depth, fried shallots and crispy yellow peas that too many leave off. No egg, but I did not miss it. The noodles were too soft for my taste, but that seems to be the rule at Burmese places.
I'd love to hear what else others have tried here.
