Levain - Minneapolis, long

Wow. Had one of the ost briolliant meals ever at Levain in Minneapolis on Saaturday night.

There were four of us and we ordered the chefs collection - 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, and a dessert.

First, we were treated to an amuse bouceh of scallops on a bed of truffels with parsley oil. Oh. My. Goodness.

We had an amazing salad with beets and baby lettuce, all tied up like a little present - and it was a present for our taste buds. The dressing had ginger and bonito - just a perfect blend. Next appetizer was a strained mussel soup. Mussel broth flavored with saffron and pepper with a delicous ratatouille wonton floating in the middle. Am at a loss for words escribing how gpood this tasted followed by a mouthful of Malbec (our wine for the night)!

Our first entree was a salmon on a bed of lettuce and lima beans with some sort of nectar of the gods like white wine butter sauce. I have never wanted to likc the plate so badly. the second entree was a fillet mignon with roasted asapargus, scalloped potatoes on a bed of cream sauce. Wow. again.

Dessert was a rum semolina cake with roasted pineapple and zabalione.

This was all served with grace and care - not to mention some amazing bread.

I just can't say enough nice things about this restaurant. The food, the service, everything was A+!
