Lettuce to manage Argyle Street

Mike G | Apr 1, 2002 12:00 AM

A friend of mine who is very close to Rich Melman tells me that Lettuce has made a deal with the city of Chicago to take over and manage the Argyle street Vietnamese/Chinese district as part of plans for redevelopment and gentrification in the Uptown to Rogers Park corridor.

The entire district will be made into a pedestrian mall called LifeNoodles, and while some of the existing restaurants will remain, there are ambitious plans for new concepts such as R. Gyle's Sox, a 50s diner; Ho Chi Minestrone, a Vietnamese-Italian Fusion restaurant; PhoBia, an upscale Asian tapas and nightclub concept, and Porkpies Now.

Coming on the heels of the announcement that Manny's Deli was being converted to an Outback Steakhouse, it's clear there are big changes afoot on our restaurant scene.
