I know the threads have been very down on this restaurant but I was taken there last night, expecting the worst, and I was extremely pleased. First I was not paying so no thoughts of what this thing cost (someone else left the arm and leg), second we were a group of 8 and they sat us alone in a room so as not to disturb other patrons (one couple actually got up and moved to another room when we sat down...smart move). We all ordered the Winter Menu and it was fantastic. The chef allowed us to substitute for any item we decided against and several of us did. The Terrine of Foie Gras was spectacular, squab stuffed with foie gras delicate and delicious, muscovy duck perfectly prepared (the confit was to die for), and chocolate cake with coconut ice cream delectable. Service was as close to perfect as can be (including chef working around my nut allergy). Only negatives were the lobster braised in butter (fair) and the Port selection...blah. Oh yeah...the hostess downstairs was as B$tchy as others have mentioned and waiting for an escort upstairs in the teeny-tiny area is ridiculous.
