My friend has requested lemon poppyseed cake for his birthday on Friday. I'm thinking of making the recipe out of Rose's Cake Bible (I just bought the book, and my purchase was reaffirmed after the raves on the thread below!).
My question is this: do you think I can can make this cake in a sheet cake or layer cake format so I can frost it? YOu know, so it looks more like a birthday cake than like a pound cake.
And what sort of frosting do you think will work with it? I was thinking maybe ginger buttercream or something.
