Stopped by Lofti's on 46th between 8th & 9th Ave.
I hadn't been to Lofti's since it was located on Cornelia.
After some adequate but unexciting appetizers (carrot and raisin salad marinated in orange and an eggplant salad), my friend and I ordered a fish/vegetable tajine (our gracious server said that the fish is usually salmon, as ours was, or bluefish) and a lemon chicken tajine. The fish tajine was average (the fish rather flavorless) but the lemon chicken tajine was fantastic. A half chicken, slow cooked to perfection, was accompanied by olives and huge hunks of preserved lemons. Along with a small side of couscous, I was a happy guy (especially because I was the one who ordered the right tajine!).
For dessert, I had a terrific gazelle, an orange blossom pastry with almond paste and coated with powdered sugar.
