Legendary Palace in Oakland - report & suggestions ?

This was my first time trying their a la carte dishes (not their dimsum). Here is my experience:

Peking duck special was only $12 or so for the whole duck with steamed buns and hoisin sauce. Just perfect and what a value ! Crispy skins, soft buns, perfect.

Fish maw soup with crab was just allright, nothing special

Mixed vegetables with seafood turned out bland.

Efu noodles with crab was another bland dish.

Steamed oyster with black bean sauce was nice but not spectacular IMO. I had better versions at a buffet place.

Crab deep fried in battered flour was another bland dish. We paid $20 for one large crab but the batter was disappointing.

Steamed rock cod fish was just allright. For a not so large fish, we were charged $45 or so. I wonder if we got cheated ? It was maybe 14 inches long. It did not look big. My fault was I did not ask how much they charged per pound.

I would be leery ordering the high end dishes at this place again. They did not execute well and possibly overcharged me with the fish. Except the Peking duck which was a good deal and outstanding.

What did I do wrong ?
