Legendary Palace dinner in Oakland

PegS | Jun 14, 200404:29 PM

Just a quickie. Took my dad out for an early Father's Day dinner at Legendary Palace last night. For a party of 7 plus one child we had the chicken and ginseng house soup; spot prawns; steamed razor clams topped with black beans; suckling pig; Peking duck; lobster with ginger and scallions; large clams that were sliced, topped with fried garlic, and placed back into the shell on a bed of vermicelli; steamed carp; "ong choy" with fermented tofu. Oh, and the "elders" had red bean soup for dessert while the rest of us had really bland mango pudding.

Everything was good except the fish, which was way overcooked as we all pointed out to my mom. When we were paying the check, the waiter asked how everything was so my mom told him the fish was overcooked. He said it was deliberatedly overcooked because we had two Caucasians in the party and they've found that Caucasians shrink at the sight of fish that's the slightish bit pink at the bone!

Entire meal was about $350 pre-tip.
