Legal's chowder-- are some branches better than others? And where is the original location?

Mr Taster | Sep 1, 200910:08 AM     11

Hi 'hounds

I'll be in your city tomorrow (from Los Angeles) and intend on doing a chowder crawl, with Legal as one of my stops.

Since it appears that Legal has been franchised to death, would you say that some branches are run better than others? Does the original location near Inman Square still exist (was unable to find it), and if so is it of significant (or at least noteworthy) historic or culinary importance?

Thanks

Mr Taster
