Left Over Clams

I made a New England lobster dinner last night and have a couple pounds of left over "Steamers"/Soft Shell Clams. I shucked the clams and put them in a plastic bin in the refrigerator, with the intent of making clam chowder for New Years. Whats the best option for preserving the clams before I make the chowder on the 31st? Freezer? Airtight plastic bin (Tupperware) in fridge? Or make the chowder now and save in fridge for New Years?
