Thank you to those who recommended Lee's House of Chinese (that's the name, right?) in San Rafael.

On the last night of my Bay Area stay, my folks were in the mood for some chinese food, and rather than schlep down into San Francisco, I told them that I'd seen the recommendation for this restaurant in San Rafael on Chowhound.

It was great. We had the following:

- Won Ton soup (for the table) - delicious broth, really good won tons.

- pan fried pork dumplings (potstickers) - excellent. Good crust, flavorful filling.

- paper-wrapped chicken - This was a confusing dish to order, as we thought it was coming wrapped in phyllo (some miscommunication on the part of us and the waitstaff). I was a little vexed, because I'm going low-carb these days, but was amazed when these little packages showed up. They are pockets of ground chicken, wrapped in a foil-paper wrapper, and then deep fried. Absolutely outstanding, and perfect for me and my diet.

- minced pork and lettuce wraps - a big hit at our table. Mom and Dad and family hadn't done this before, and they really enjoyed it. I was able to use the leftover lettuce leaves for our next dish...

- Moo Shu Chicken: Also really good. What I love about going to a real Chinese restaurant is that the Moo Shu is so much more fresh, less saucy, more crisp than what you might find back east. I don't know if its the difference between getting it at Mandarin (as this one was) or Hunan restaurants (where it isn't a mainstay Hunanese dish), or what. All I know is that it was great.

- Mongolian Lamb: Nice kick. Almost too much for my Dad, but we really enjoyed it. Solid flavors, and a will-repeat.

- Beef and Broccoli: not my choice, and really the only disappointment. The beef was a little muchy, and the entire dish rather flavorless. But then again, it's beef and broccoli.
