Lee Hou Dim Sum and Genki Japanese Crepes (Micro-mini Reports)

Gary Soup | May 12, 200312:06 AM

Odd that I first heard about Genki at breakfasttime this morning and ended up paying it an unplanned visit by lunchtime.

We were on Clement for dim sum, and ended up at Lee Hou because the wait at Ocean was too long (my wife had been to Ocean recently and reported that the quality had improved since our last visit).

Bottom line on Lee Hou's dim sum: more than adequate in quality, but very limited in variety. I found a couple of positive mentions on CH about Lee Hou's regular menu, and perhaps the dim sum should be ordered as appetizers (it appeared that many tables were doing just that).

On the way out, we discovered that Genki was right next door. I couldn't resist treating my stepdaughter to a crepe, as she had just blown her allowance on treating her mother and me to Mothers' day lunch. She selected the fresh fruit and whipped cream crepe ($3.45, the most expensive one).

Bottom line on Genki: Leilani Soup hopes they open one near her school so she can eat them for lunch every day.

Genki is at 330 Clement. Lee Hou is one door to the west.
