Maybe I'm losing my objectivity in my old age, but I'm surprised at the lack of "buzz" about this place amoung all my foodie friends. I've had three very good meals at this East Village ( 5th St between A & B ) bistro, the last of which was yesterday evening. Everything I have had has been reasonably solid, with no "bum" dishes out of the whole lot. Last night was the first time we tried the "tasting menus" ( which are a "chef's choice" deal, the biggest surpirse being that the dishes served are different for each person at the table - well, at least when it was two people ! ). My friend had the "with wine" version, but I'm not a wine drinker so I abstained, and he said the wines chosen were very nice.
We got there at around 7:30PM, and the place was mostly empty, and it stayed that way till we "closed it" at around 11PM, and never got any sort of "rush" to leave. The prices are reasonable ( well, maybe not by "classic East Village" standards ), and now the previously complained about 'noise issues appear to be gone.
I give this place a big "thumbs up".
