The basic feeling that I get from this board when discussing Le Papillon, is that it was once a charming and consistent restaurant (even if the chairs were uncomfortable) that has since become weathered and routine and fallen from grace as it were (taking the chairs with it).
I know that they moved to their new location on Front. Recently, I was in the area on my way to St. Lawrence market and walked by Le Papillon. I didn't go in, but I did peruse their menu. I recognized a lot of the items from the days when I was a loyal patron, but also noticed quite a few new items.
Has anyone who frequented the old location been to the new spot? Is the old, for lack of a better word, "magic" back? Is the menu slightly revamped with some new dishes to compliment their traditional favourites? Are the chairs any more comfortable than they used to be?
I used to love Papillon. The last time I was there at the old location, it was awkward and embarrassing. The atmosphere was that they had given up and just waiting for axe to fall.
I would dearly love to see the butterfly soar again, not unlike the phoenix that rises out of its own ashes.....damn....that sounds really cheezy.....I can almost hear the collective groan of a thousand hounds....ah whatever....I have read worse on other posts....
love to hear what you guys have to say about the new location
