Le Krewe

I threw a surprise birthday party for my husband on Saturday (he was flabbergasted--what fun), that I had catered by Le Krewe, the cajun restaurant on Valencia Street. They did a really nice job--tasty jambalaya with decent amounts of andouille and shrimp, popcorn shrimp and okra that was gobbled up very quickly, blackened tofu (!) which was surprisingly toothsome and a real hit with the vegetarians. Grilled vegetables, caesar salad and cornbread rounded out the menu. And we drank a keg of Abita Amber, a yummy microbrew from New Orleans. The price was fair, the servers did a great job, and they decorated the serving table with a whole bunch of mardi gras necklaces that made nice party favors. And the owner of the restaurant stopped by the party to make sure everything was going well--how's that for service? All in all, I highly recommend them for a casual fun party. And I have to assume that the restaurant is well-run and fun as well.
