My fiancee and I spent the weekend in Cold Spring, and had dinner at Le Bouchon, a new French bistro there. We liked it a lot! We had:
Appetizer 1: frisee salad with bacon, which came with a whipped blue cheese spread on toast. Very tasty --- large, flavorful bacon cubes, and the blue cheese spread had just the right amount of intensity.
Appetizer 2: smoked salmon and potato strudel, also very tasty.
Entree 1: Tiger shrimp with mashed potatoes and artichoke hearts. Also very good --- the mashed potatoes had capers mixed in, which worked very nicely.
Entree 2: Moules frites (the waitress said this was the house specialty). Very smooth mussels, in a sweet curry broth with apples. Very tasty, and the fries were great.
All the portions were very generous, as was the carafe of house wine (which was fine, for house wine). We got a profiterole for dessert. It seemed just OK, although at that point we may already have been too fat and happy. Friendly service, as well. It was fairly crowded when we came, though we didn't have to wait for a table.
