I'm planning to take my girlfriend out for her birthday, which is December 25th, to either Le Bernardin or Daniel. However, I'm concerned that even though they maybe open Christmas Day, their service and/or food may just not be at the level of excellence these restaurants are known for. I am hoping that someone may be able to justify or defeat my concern, or know of a way to really find out.
I'm also considering moving the dinner to either Monday, December 26th or even Thursday or Friday, 29th or 30th. I will, of course, be forced to do this if both are closed on Dec.25th. However, since all of these days are during the week between Christmas and New Years, I can imagine that many people (including top cooks) may take it off for vacation, which brings up the same concern.
Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated.
