Lazy Bear Review [San Francisco]

PorkyBelly | Feb 21, 201509:59 PM

I haven't seen a review for Lazy Bear yet so I wanted to share my photos from their opening menu.

Whipped Scrambled Eggs, Bacon, Maple, Hot Sauce

First up were tiny "snacks" in the loft area.

Damson Plum Brulee, Chicken Liver Mousse, Brioche, Sorrel

Charred Tomatillo, Beef Jerkey, Creme Fraiche, Radish

Even smaller

Sweet Corn Custard, American White Sturgeon Caviar

This was my favorite of the snacks, but very small, it was only enough for about two spoonfuls.

Bay Laurel and Molasses Bread

This was kind of a joke to include this as a "course" in the tasting menu. Really?

Chilled Lettuce Soup, Little Gems, Summer Squash, Fried Anchovy, Parsley

Their take on a caesar salad in soup form. However the soup was not chilled enough.

Delta Crawfish, Carolina Gold Rice Grits, Spot Prawn, Cucumber, Celery, Purslane

Guinea Hen, Red Kuri Squash, Chanterelles, Fines Herbes, Hen Jus

Favorite course of the night

Seared Sungolds, Smoked Beef Striploin, Basil, Amaranth, Tomato Raisins

Beef was too lean.

Pluots, Pluot Consomme Gelee, Ginger Curd, Shiso, Mint

Overall everything tasted fine, nothing was outstanding. The snacks were actually the highlight of the meal. However for 120pp the portions were so small that I left hungry at the end of the night.
