I'm going to try to make a layer cake for the first time. Aren't the tops of the layers uneven? Is there danger that they won't balance?
I don't mind sacrificing looks for convenience, as long as taste is not affected, so if there's an easier/after way of doing this, I'd love to hear it. (Maybe use a loaf pan and slice it into 3rds? How would this change the cooking time?)
