This weekend I posted a request for an appetizer yet to be created called Lavender Moons. Thanks to all the good suggestions I was inspired to make savory lavender biscuits shaped into crescent moons. I made the biscuits linked below but omitted the sugar and added some herbs de provence sea salt along with the requisite lavender. I originally intended to split and fill them with either smoked turkey or tarragon egg salad for the veg heads or fill them with fig tapenade from epicurious but they turned out too small to split. Instead I served them in a basket lined with an napkin and a ramekin of sweet butter. They looked lovely and I really like how the crushed lavender buds poke through the biscuit. They were devoured and even my lavender fiend/friend pronounced them as excellent. I'll definitely make them again (in the regular biscuit shape) and fill them with something yummy. I'd like to achieve a combination of rustic country biscuit sandwich and slightly sophisticated tea sandwich. If anyone has suggestions, I am once again oopen to more ideas.
