Lauletta's Grille Again

I am not a shill.

If I lived in South PHilly I would be there twice a week. It's not just the food--it's the warmth of the owner/chef, Joe Lauletta and his small staff (a daughter maybe?).

One of the specials--scallops in spicy lobster sauce, spinach, portobello mushroom for $19.95 grabbed me, but I knew I couldn't handle a spicy sauce. Sure enough, Joe was able to modify the spicy at my request. There wasn't a part of the plate that I didn't adore. A real touch for saucing, cooking fresh scallops just to perfection, fresh spinach, al dente mushroom; generous portion.

Husband had a scallop in balsamic reduction appetizer that he loved--$6.95. Friend ordered an orichette pasta with sausage, spinach, much garlic, for $11.95 that was easily enough for three people. Really good--she gave a taste. Other friend/chef had a pork medallion choice with gorgonzola sauce, wonderful potatos and zuccini that he raved about. Desserts were quite good--especially the coffee/chocolate mousse with a bit of brownie on the bottom of a coffee cup. All desserts $6.00. Decaf was brewed strong at our request, and served in lovely china.

BYOB; cash only.
