We visit NYC a couple of times a year from Austin and will be there April 11-16. I've got most of our dining itinerary planned, but need help with a couple of things. We have reservations for Maialino, 15 East and are planning to dine at the salon at Per Se 1 night.
Lunch will be at Ssam Bar, Ippudo, Rubirosa...places like these. We are seeing plays both Wed and Thursday nights. Last Fall when we were there, we went to Balthazar's after the theater only to find it closing. We would like to have a light dinner both nights after the theater, probably getting out around 10:30. We are staying around Battery Park. We like almost all types of foods and would not mind sitting at the bar somewhere with good cocktails/wine and good food.
Onto my second dilemma: We just found out some friends of ours that live at Roosevelt Island are moving in May to Chicago. We would like to take them out for Saturday brunch or dinner. There will be 5 of us, 4 adults and 1 teenager (who is fairly food adventurous, so she's not a problem). We would like someplace where we can have a good time with lots of conversation as there is much to catch up on, so nothing too loud. With the weather being warm in NYC (looks like it just changed), I had thought about Lincoln for brunch thinking we could eat outside. I made a reservation for 12 noon, but the outside is not open till May. I remember reading that the dining room is kind of cold. I would like the room to be cozy to facilitate conversation. What do you think? I would appreciate any other suggestions.
The other thing I thought of is having Saturday dinner instead of brunch. We have dreadful Asian food in Austin, except for Uchi & Uchico, so I thought about going someplace Asian for dinner. What about Hunan Manor? Could we take our time & talk? Please add any suggestions, Asian or otherwise. Bianca? Someplace Italian? Would like to keep the tab to around $200.00 excluding drinks, tip & tax.
Thanks for any help.
