Late night pasta at Pete's Café in downtown

Ernie | May 19, 200410:49 PM

I've been going to Pete's semi-regularly for a while now and always order the signature Hellman burger. On my last visit, the burger was still good but not as great as the previous version which was served on a better, longer roll-type bun. I was a little disappointed that this neat loft adjacent café was starting to slip

However, last night was in the area for some drinks and our group wanted a late-night bite and had a great dinner. Decided to try something different this time, the "4th & Main Linguini with Clams, Apple Wood Smoked Bacon, Herbs & Wine". Happy to report this pasta dish was outstanding

Sort of a delicious cross between linguini & clams and carbonara. The sauce was perfect and just enough to coat the linguini. Clams were very fresh tasting and in the shell, and the smoked bacon was a perfect complimentary flavor. With a nice French chardonnay (Vouvray) I was in carbo-heaven and now cannot get this pasta dish out of my head! Service was also very good
