The late Bread Shop--upper Broadway

When my husband was at Union Seminary in the mid-80s we frequented the Bread Shop at 1121 or 122 and Broadway, under the 1 and 9 line, about a block south of Tieman place. It had some of the best scones I've ever had, terrific buttermilk biscuits (which I believe included egg yolk, hence the yellow color), and decent cookies, etc. But those scones...the baker was a youngish guy with prematurely gray hair. The shop went out of business years ago, but I'm wondering if anybody remembers it and knows what happened to the baker...
