Las Vegas Service and Food

Quick trip, so therefore a quick note...

Commander's Palace-Terific food, well prepared and attractively presented. Service was over the top! Two servers assigned to the two of us, working as a team. Even had a well made Sazerac. Great wine list but when did every strip restaurant get the authority to mark up their wines 4-500%!!!!! Manager was very consciencious and was over to our table (and others) just to see how everything was going. For no reason at all except that we were very friendly, he ended up buying us a round of drinks as well as the bread pudding souffle and bananas foster on the house. Very cool. Funny, the bill was still $160/ person! He then recommended and called ahead for us to dine at Nob Hill.

Nob Hill-Another great meal with very creative presentation. They used my name so much in talking with me I felt like a regular. Had Fondue and an hors d'oeuvre platter to start for three of us. The room was very steak house like with dark wood. An interesting set up with vey private booths in the front room. I wasn't very hungry so only had the foie gras appetizer for dinner and a small salad. No dessert (Still full from commander's the night before and Mon Ami Gabi for lunch that day. $110 with wine

Mon Ami Gabi- Very simple lunch on the patio with a bottle of Sancerre, some chicken liver pate and a shrimp salad. However, very disappointing baguette for a french restaurant!

A very special thank you to you all for pointing out Lotus of Siam. Without a doubt the best! I ordered 7 dishes for two of us just to mamke sure I didn't miss the high spots (no, we didn't eat it all). Will go back to LV just to eat there again!
