I took a trip to LV last weekend and was looking for a place to go for dinner with some friends. The day before we left a message about Bonito Michoacan was sent to a mailing list I'm on. I took it for the sign it was.
It was probably one of the best mexican dining experiences I've had. (I grew up in So. Cal. & now live in Phoenix, so I go to a mexican place just about every week.) I was disappointed with my companions,
as they ordered burritos, taquitos, & the like. But then again, I think that one of the best tacos I've had was from a sidewalk cart a block off of the main drag in Tiajuana.
The maragaritas were good. Any strawberry margarita with chunks (a few, not a lot) of berries is a good one. I tried the mole poblano & it was excellent. The sauce seems simple at first but has a complex
mixture of flavors.
One dish they serve has a word in it with at least 20 letters. If you're a gringo & can say the word without pausing, they will give you a free margarita or shot of tequilla. I didn't try for it, but a friend received one (she lived in Chile for 6 months, though.)
If you like mexican & are in LV, you must make a trip there. It's only 5 minutes or so off the strip, so travel distance isn't an excuse. It cheaper than a restaurant in a casino, so that isn't an excuse either.
