went there tonight. had called earlier in the week for a reservation for 8 ppl at 7pm and the woman who took the reservation sounded very skeptical about my rez, but said, the owner may call on saturday to call and confirm. i said fine. no call on saturday. on sunday, at 3pm, call back to confirm and someone who speaks limited english said to call back in half an hour. i call back, tell the guy i want to confirm for 8 ppl at 7pm and he says okay, i don't see the reservation but no problem.
we get there at 7 and there's only one other table in there. this mirrors the sentiments of some other hounders who said that this place is a gem and needs ppl to eat there. i echo that.
went in there, had two kids, so they had to help us w/ seat set up. orderd 2 traditional margaritas and a mango margarita, but htey had no mangoes. for appetizers, ordered a guacamole, a calamari and two shrimp ceviches. all 3 were quite good. my chinese parents who love seafood loved the shrimp ceviche.
for entrees, dad got the pan fried salmon, mom got the hangar steak, bro got the pork chops and mashed potatoes, i got the camarones (shrimp), wife got the enchiladas and sister got the mariscadas. everyone liked their dish. dad was surprised the salmon was in a spicy broth. bro loved the chops. i loved the jumbo shrimp. wife said the enchiladas had no cheese in it. only the chicken and beef in a tomatillo sauce. 'hounders: i know the fresco tortilla chains have cheese in the enchiladas, but does interior mexican cuisine leave the cheese out of enchiladas?
good suggestions, 'hounders. thanks.
