After hearing of the closing/hot dog stand conversion I had to go have Las Ruinas again.....
Here's the lowdown....The gentlemen who owns the property that includes the Las Ruinas structure, parking lot and adjacent 50's style store (which appears to be closed now) told me that the man who owned the Las Ruinas business did not put money back into the business to promote and draw more customers, was known for not paying his employees (Gordita and Victor) and did'nt develop a system for filling orders quick enough. The owner of the whole property bought out the owner of Las Ruinas who now has no connection to the business. So as rumored it will be converted to a hot dog stand. His long term goal is to restore the gas station and open up a 50's style diner in the adjacent building. He told me that there is a place in Pasadena called Haley's that Victor cooks the Las Ruinas menu at on certain nights. I don't know what or where this Haley's place is in Pasadena though.
Oh, the Al Pastor tacos and mulas I had were oh so good!
The property owner says Las Ruinas will be open for about 2 more weeks - he did'nt have a definite date. The Hot Dog stand will open around the end of November.
