On Fraggle's recommendation (thanks Fraggle!), we sampled some pupusas at Cafe Las Delicias this weekend.
We had 4 total.
1 "con todo" (beans, cheese, and fried pork)
1 Argentinian (ham and cheese)
1 Vegetarian (zucchini and cheese)
1 Mexican (jalapenos and cheese)
All were very good, though we liked the "con todo" and the Vegetarian the most. The ham in the Argentinian could have been tastier, and the cheese in the Mexican was a different (and not as tasty) kind as that used in the others.
I completely agree with Fraggle's assessment of the space. It's small but definitely in a cozy, welcoming way. Almost the complete opposite from the feel of Izalco. Personally, I enjoy both spaces, but they do offer very, very different feels.
Neither my wife nor I had strong feelings about who had the better pupusas (Las Delicias or Izalco). Both sets were damn tasty, we thought, and both were cheap (1.50 or 2 bucks per pupusa).
Other than a (for our tastes) overly sweet glass of horchata, we didn't sample any of the other menu items.
Incidentally, we tried to stop in on Saturday around 3 for a quick bite and the place was completely packed. We walked by again on Sunday around 3 and there were tables, but the place was still over half full. Seemed like a good sign to us.
