I'm in Bergen County and lately whenever I order calamari marinara the rings are thick and very large. They're mostly still tender, but nevertheless they are unappealing and unappetizing. This used to be more of a delicate dish no matter where I ordered it. In the past the rings were an inch to an inch and a quarter and not thick. Now they are at least two inches in diameter (sometimes more) and up to 1/2" thick. When I ask restaurants why this is no one seems to know (or they're not telling). I miss my delicate calamari. Does anyone know the reason for this change?
